Business Description
Alcor Micro was founded in Santa Clara, California in November 1996 with the goal of becoming a leading supplier for single-chip next generation PC peripheral and consumer IC solutions. The founders of the company consists of elite Silicon Valley veterans with extensive experience and expertise in system, ASIC and software design.
Product Description
4 month after the company's foundation, Alcor Micro delivered its first micro-controller based USB standalone 4-port hub in FPGA. The FPGA board passed USB-IF Plugfest and was listed in hub silicon integrator list. This proven FPGA design became one of the most important facets of Alcor's core technology. In order to attain long term competitiveness in technology and cost, Alcor Micro forewent any commercially available USB cores, and developed USB device and hub cores with the best performance/cost effective architecture. 7 months later, in October 1997, the company delivered the world's first single chip USB keyboard hub integrated chip - the AU9412. This chip integrated not only the USB hub, a 3.3v regulator and a 48MHz phase lock loop circuit was also encompassed.
